While in kitchen and trying to experiment with various recipes, for me the objective it to do things in minimal and still healthy. So while I share this recipe, you can make this for yourself too and have quick lunch bite incase you are feeling lazy to cook a full meal. Also these can be perfect breakfast option for the whole family.

Dal is rich in protein and work well with calcium of cheese. You can skip cheese if you want and replace with paneer or add more layer of cucumber and beets with tomato. So go ahead and make this yummy and healthy meal for your child and share your feedback with us.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup Leftover Dal
  • 1 Tomato
  • 1 tbsp Cheese
  • 1 tbsp Green Chutney
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Garlic
  • 1/2 tsp Chat Masala
  • 1/2 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tsp Coriander Leaves
  • 4 Whole bread slices

Instructions

  1. Here the leftover dal which I have used is mixed Chana dal and Toor dal but this practically any dal can be used. Offcourse the taste would vary. I had cooked the dal with tomatoes, ginger garlic etc so those flavors were already there.

  2. Take a pan and add 1/2 tsp of oil and saute minced garlic and then add the dal and cook till it dries up to almost a thick paste.

  3. Once the dal dries up, add little chat masala, coriander leaves and lemon juice and mix well and keep aside. You can add some raw chopped onions too for more crunch.

  4. Take two bread slices and put green chutney on one and spread the dal mixture and next add a thin layer of grated cheese and top it up with tomato slices and then close the sandwich with another bread slice. For kids you can spread some cheese spread on the second slice of the bread before closing the sandwich.

  5. Now grill the sandwich on a pan with little oil and cut in cubes and serve.
