Veg Khowsuey

Veg Khowsuey is a Burmese cuisine and is also loved for being a simple but delightful one pot meal. Making Veg Khowsuey is easy however the adds on  which go along with the Khowsuey is very critical to the taste and texture.

I fried garlic but caramalised onions instead of deep frying. The chilli oil was simply adding red chilli powder and chilli flakes in hot oil . If you want you can add a tsp of soya sauce but I skipped it. The lemon grass gives a very nice flavour and I would suggest to use it. However many recipes don’t suggest it at all.

What I feel important apart from the add ons is besan , turmeric and coconut milk . It’s this combination which makes the base of this recipe. Rest a little here and there is perfectly fine. The Veg Khowsuey is quite heavy because of the coconut milk, hence you might not be able to go for a second serving unless you are really hungry.

Adjust the spiciness as per your family taste as coconut milk tends to make it sweet, so check for the flavours.
