priya-lakshmiWe are back here with another Food Story from our very own community. We are lucky to have you all part of Recipe Dabba and FoodKiChat and it’s an absolute pleasure to have your contributions every day on our platforms. We love ‘liking’ and ‘commenting’ on your creative recipes which makes world a yummier place for sure.

Today is a story of one such blogger; Priya Lakshminarayan who has been not only innovative with her recipes but also her skills to capture the beauty of food is quite commendable. No wonder ‘Smart Indian Women’ published her interview and platforms like One Green Planet have featured her recipe.

She blogs at cookilicious.com

Here is some piece from our discussion with her:

Please help us know more about your journey and Cookilicious so far?

I started food blogging in a whim in 2014 on one lazy afternoon. For a year I just blogged for myself, family and friends. It was only after I attended a Blogging Conference in September 2015 that I started it as my business venture. Ever since we have just been growing and enriching our culinary journey.

With such wonderful bloggers around, how do you make sure to stand out?

My blog is a year old and recipes are vegetarian and/or vegan, they are easy to make, I provide pictures of the steps involved in the recipe which makes it easy to understand the recipe and all the recipes on my blog are tried and tested by me in my kitchen. I love creating fusion recipes, traditional Indian recipes and developing a new recipe using new/never used before ingredients.

What are your learnings as a Food blogger and how to make sure you are skilled enough for your passion?

I am learning something new every day with every recipe I make. Food blogging is not just fancy as it appears. It is a lot of hard work. It involves coming up with easy and quick recipes, food styling, food photography, social media promotion, networking, driving traffic to your blog through various creative methods. I also follow bloggers from different parts of the world and keep reading about world cuisines. This inspires me try out new and different recipes. Also having studied Foods & Nutrition in College for 4 years surely does come in handy.

Apart from Social Media, how else do you promote your blog and which are some of your best loved blogs till date.

Link parties every day, network with fellow bloggers in my genre, build lasting relationships, SEO best practices, word by mouth, guest blogging and working with brands. I love many Indian food bloggers like Madhuri Aggarwal at Madaboutkitchen, Richa Gupta at myfoodstory, Vegan Richa and International bloggers like Linsay Ostrom from Pinchofyum and Nagi from Recipetineats.

We wish Priya and Cookilicous a beautiful journey ahead and look forward to more of the delicious recipes
