Jowar Soup

Jowar Soup!! Yes Yes ..it’s tasty.

Ha ha I know we are not used to of having Jowar in soup form, but trust me this tastes closer to mushroom soup so if you like that…you would love this too.

The beauty of this soup is that it is Vegan and Gluten free and perfect for weight watchers too. So if you have any of these diet plan this works perfect for you. I however enjoyed making this and relishing it too. That is exactly why I am sharing this recipe. Now all you have to do is work on the seasonings as per your taste and around it.

I would have mentioned this N number of times that Jowar has a beautiful flavor and is quite neutral too. So experimenting with this flour is always favorable. Adding veggies into this makes it a complete meal and you can enjoy this steaming hot in winters or cold in summers too. Yes! my personal favorite is a hot soup anytime though.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Jowar Flour
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Chopped Garlic
  • 1/2 Chopped Onion
  • 1/4 cup Fine Chopped Carrots
  • 1/4 cup Fine Chopped French Beans
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Coriander Leaves
  • 1 tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Chilli Flakes
  • 2 cup Vegetable Stock or Water
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Coriander Stalks

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and saute garlic and coriander stalks.

  2. Now add onions and saute for a min and add veggies and mix it well.

  3. While veggies are still crunchy add jowar flour and now roast this for 5 mins on slow till it gives a nice aroma.

  4. Add oregano, salt and pepper and gradually pour water /stock and let the jowar cook nicely and thicken the soup and boil it.

  5. Once the consistency is nice and thick, pour in a bowl , drizzle some olive oil , chilli flakes, lemon juice and coriander leaves and enjoy.
