Choco Nut Spread is what was on my mind for long. Not that I tried this Choco Nut Spread first time, but this was long due as my son is a chocolate fan but Nutella is a no-no at our place. So then I wanted to bring my Choco Nut Spread as close as possible and hence used Hazelnut this time, while mostly I just use almonds and it did give a lot nicer taste.

Infact both almonds and hazelnut are complementary to each other, while former is more nutty latter is buttery in taste. However Hazelnuts are quite costly as compared to other nuts hence mixing them works better on pocket too. Also the catch of this Choco Nut Spread is to make the Choco Nut butter which has longer shelf life and then liquify whenener needed. The butter is quite thick but you can also add it in your chocolates etc too and enjoy the yummy flavors. So lets go to the recipe of Choco Nut Spread to try out our hands over it.

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp Hazelnuts
  • 2 tbsp Almonds
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Essense
  • 1 tsp Choco Powder
  • 2 tbsp Organic Honey
  • 1 tbsp Milk
  • 1.8 tsp Salt

Instructions

  1. This recipe is in two part, one is to first make chocolate butter which has a good 15 to 20 days shelf life and then add milk and make a dip or spread which is good for 3-4 days.

  2. Take a baking tray and spread hazelnuts and almonds and bake/roast them for 15 mins on 180 degree Celsius.

  3. While they are still warm add hazelnuts in small mixer jar (chutney jar) and pulse it for good 4-5 times till you see it becomes even paste, you might have to do it for good 4 -5 mins with little break and you would see the oil coming out of the nut. At this moment transfer it in a separate bowl.

  4. Repeat the same process of almonds and make almond butter too.

  5. Now take 1 tbsp of both the butter and add in a mixer and add vanilla essence, salt, honey and cocoa powder and again run the mixer.

  6. You would see the nut butter turning into chocolate and honey mixes well too, however it won't be runny and will remain thick. Now this is when you can transfer it in a glass bowl and store it.

  7. Now whenever you want to use it, take out the butter around 1 tbsp and add 1 tbsp milk and run the mixer or just use a fork to mix well. You can also heat it on a pan for quick 30 secs and mix well.

  8. You can fine chop some nuts and garnish the spread.

  9. Your choco nut spread is ready and you can put it on bread with some banana slices and prepare a quick chocolaty sandwich for a yummy healthy breakfast.
