Mondays need to start with motivation and that’s why we bring these Food Stories from our community which can inspire us more. Every time I meet these wonderful people carving their niche, it just gives me a great kick to explore this gourmet world from a much closer view. I came across www.currytrail.in and was completely smitten by the blog and the temptations it served. Here is the story of the Jyothi Rajesh, Founder Curry Trail while she candidly shares her thoughts with us.
Q1.How did Curry Trail happen to you and how old is your blog. Please share your journey?
Would you believe if I said I woke one day and told by husband I want to start a blog that way I can spend time for myself alongside taking care of 2 kids, my little one was not even an year old?! Believe it or not, that’s how it started. And after I discussed with Rajesh a few things on starting a blog we both did some research online and the 3rd day we hosted our very own website and called it CurryTail. Yes that’s the story of how my blog started and it’s been an amazing 2.7 years so far.
Q2.What keeps you going as a food blogger and who inspires you?
I think I found my calling. Everyone should have a passion that drives you and keeps you alive. And I had no idea I would find my calling. Since I love food and photography very much I keep pushing myself to keep going, keep learning new things everyday.
A lot of people, rather friends inspire me. I learn from these amazing talented people and the number is huge to pen it down here. Let’s say a lot of my blogger friends and a lot of people who are not my friends inspire me everyday.
Q3.Which all food blogs are your favorite and which one do you follow?
Again the list is huge. But I think I will have to mention a few talented people who I believe excel in their work. In no particular order it’s :Turmericnspice, Passionateaboutbaking, Souvlakiforthesoul, Journeykitchen Cubesnjuliennes ,Thewhiteramekins are to name few.
Q4.As a food blogger what is your daily routine and how do you manage to keep up the balance which life demands?
I plan a day in advance on things I want to do the next day. I maintain a checklist of things that I have to complete and this includes a lot of personal work and work related to blog/photography. This mostly helps me complete my task for the day.
I try to cook and shoot 2 to 3 recipes a day some times when I’m less loaded on personal front. I keep myself very busy during the weekdays, but I do not compromise on my workout sessions, play time with kids and sitting with my daughter helping her with homework. I make sure I balance out properly on both fronts.
I do not cook food for blog or clients on weekends. We usually make plans to dine out, or it’s a day out with kids and hubby. We catch up with friends or I just laze around the whole day on couch.
Q5 What is the USP of your blog and how have you worked on it?
CurryTrail is all about easy and creative recipes, my recipes are mostly influenced from my Indian roots. I most of the time blog what I cook. Simple everyday dishes that you will find in any Indian house hold is what I think is my USP.
Q6 We would love to hear about your recent achievements?
I had my name and blog mentioned in newspapers many times (Deccan Herald, Bangalore Edition), my recipe got printed in a magazine (Good Home and Garden India), I was also a part of KitchenAid regional contests, won several food contest and won amazing gadgets through it. Also I won multiple time a prestigious online food photography contest called DMBLGiT(Does My Blog Look Good in This).
I have and still work of couple of brand names, both India and International level.
Q7.What has been your learnings and where do we see you going in coming times?
Learning never ends and we all learn everyday. I feel very excited when I discovered a new technique, learnt a new topic every day. I want to continue to learn and go on with discovering new things. I challenge myself and compete with my own work and try to do better than what I did yesterday. That’s how I go about it.
