Paneer remains to be one of my favorites. So don’t be surprised if we have more paneer recipes coming up here. Not just taste wise but even its creamy texture simple makes me love experimenting with it. Good part it Paneer is that its high nutritional value makes it a favorite of moms and taste is what keeps the kids happy.Now isn’t it a win win dish.
I remember while I was a kid,whenever we had any dinner party at our place Paneer was a must add to the menu and I would sneak into the kitchen just to get my hand on the fried pieces of Paneer. They off-course tasted yummy with tomato ketchup. Now that’s another recipe for some other day but lets now talk about ‘Paneer Khatta Meetha’. So this dish had a very interesting story and it goes one day while I wanted to eat paneer my husband was in no mood to settle with Matar Paneer.He thought of confusing me more by saying you can eat Paneer if I get something sweet but tangy and still spicy. Now I was adamant of eating Paneer but I had to make something as per his wish too, so after some quick research we had this delicious outcome.Paneer Khatta Meeta is not just creamy and yummy but extremely easy to and not to forget quite a favorite amongst kids if served with hot Puris.
- Paneer: 250 gms
- Onion : 2 medium pureed
- Tomato: 1 large pureed
- Ginger paste: 1 tablespoon
- Garlic paste: 1 tablespoon
- Curd: 5 tablespoon
- Honey: 1 tablespoon
- Kasoori Methi powder: 1 tablespoon
- Red chilli powder: ½ tea spoon
- Jeera powder: ½ tea spoon
- Salt: as per taste
- Refined Oil: 1 tablespoon
- Heat oil in a wok and then add pureed onion into it.
- Let the paste fry for 2 mins till the pungent smell of Onion goes and it becomes slightly brown.
- To this add Ginger and Garlic paste and again cook it on medium for 2 to 3 mins.
- After this add tomato puree , salt, red chill powder, jeera powder and cook till such time the mixture start binding together and give a nice aroma of cooked masala.
- After this turn the gas off and let the masala cool down a bit.
- Now in a separate vessel take curd whisk it with kasoori methi powder.
- Add this mixture in the wok which has cooked and cooled masala and mix it well so that so it blends into the masala properly.
- After this turn on the gas and let it cook for 2 mins again.
- At this stage add honey to the mixture along with paneer cubes.
- Cover the lid and let the masala seep in into paneer cubes as it cooks for 2 to 3 mins.
- Khatta Meeta Paneer is ready to be served with Nan, Partha, Chappati .Enjoy tangy flavor with a twist of sweetness.
